Soap

For a number of years I had a home soap business which was very popular in town and on my website. I've mostly given it up except for the few shops who beg.

Fabric Book More

More pages inside the altered fabric book.

Fabric Book More

We are cups constantly and quietly being filled.

Fabric Book interior

Here are some of the pages in the altered fabric book. There is a range of ephemera here.

Altered Fabric Book

I made this fabric book for a swap. The binding is an old coffee bag from Mexico and it's topped with antique ric rac.

Latest work

This is what I'm working on now. It's an abstract print made from a photo of an old rusted gas tank cover on a DeSoto. I will be printing it out on artists canvas and adding layers of encaustic wax to bring out the texture.

Soap Cake

Just a little thing I call a "soap cake" made from pure cold processed soap made by hand and whipped to a froth in the blender to pipe into rosettes. Raspberry scented.

Deco-Insect

No theme is taboo in the world of decos. This one is all about insects. Yum. The gorgeous marbled paper is coated with beeswax.

Deco-Pink

Pink inspired deco covered with handmade papers.

Deco-Tomato

I seemed to have a lot of vegetable stamps in my collection so I put some to use here!

Deco Page-None Other

The work of ART which I do not make, none other will ever make it.

Deco-Le Danse

A musical deco with layered art papers and a Magyar Posta stamp.

Deco Page-Stamps

A page I deco'ed in a small postage deco.

Deco-Playing Card

I really had fun with these altered playing card decos--the size is great to work with and I wound pictures of old thread spools with real art fibers and attached them to some sheet music stained with chocolate ink.

Deco Page-Victory

Victory over artlessness! Hurray!

Deco-Herbs

An angeled deco on the theme of herbs.

Deco-Wild Animals

A wild animals themed deco.

Deco Page-Escape

A deco page in a summer themed deco with a hand dyed tag dipped in gold UTEE and some ceramic beads.

Deco-Brown & Rose

A brown and rose themed deco with vintage image and antique lace, topped with mother of pearl buttons.

Deco-Black & White

A deco covered in textured black paper and topped with multiple puzzle pieces dipped in black and white encaustic medium.

Deco Page-Alphabet

Inventing some imaginary letters along the way.

ATC-Bank

Lots of vintage ephemera from my stash in this ATC, including an old cancelled check and French letters.

ATC-Einstein

Einstein did NOT flunk math.
Or did he?

ATC-Chaos

We were most beautiful in small high holy groups shifting like starfish.

Old butterfly stamp, text, beads on rusted wire and art fibers.

ATC-Strange World

I found this very strange stamp from Yugoslavia which looks to me like a flying dishwasher. It's on an old map with dictionary text and stained with walnut ink.

ATC-Space Age

ATC for a Space swap, using images from an old book on crafts for boys.

ATC-Undiscovered

The boundless ocean of truth lies undiscovered before me. Old postcard diecut, metal filigree and Reader page.

ATC-Readers

Antique Reader page and a feather.

ATC-Little Creatures

ATC with sewing, vintage postage stamps and a slide covered with old ledger pages.

ATC-Remember

Vintage ledger pages from 1967, Dutch text and old buttons.

ATC-Reliquary

It is the reliquary we carry.

My very first ATC.

ATC-Love

The only satisfactory answer, don't you think?

ATC-Metal

This ATC was for a metal swap and proclaims my passion for junk.

ATC-Quilt

From my collection of antique ric rac, a quilt themed ATC.

ATC-Watercolor

Watercolor ATC topped with printed vellum.

ATC-Passport

Deep red ATC with an old school yearbook photo from the thirties and a vintage cancelled stamp.

ATC-Fabric II

Another fabric ATC for an exchange.

ATC-Fabric

ATC made entirely of fabric, with a printed linen image and fringe, buttons and beads.

ATC-Math

An Art of Math ATC for a swap. There is an overlay of transparency attached with a brad.

ATC-Memories

Library ATC on a pocket book card stamped with due dates. The image is on a transparency attached with a star grommet. Stained with walnut ink.

ATC-Direction

Another in the series of vintage lace ATCs.

ATC-Hope Is

ATC with vintage lace. These backgrounds were nice and rich, accomplished with acrylic paints and stamp pad inks, then crackled with a rubber stamp and glazed. The text is suspended on acetate and antique buttons are added.

ATC-Hot Java

ATC with java beans. Who knew that this coffee bean stamp would become one of my favorites? Stained with coffee and sprinkled with gold leaf flecks.

ATC--Due and Payable

ATC reminder that bills are due and payable much earlier in the month, or we might repossess your delightful mud brown van.

Scratched, sanded and hand colored photo from the famous "under my bed" collection. This one taken near the Corn Palace in Mitchell SD.

ATC-Long Past Due

ATC fun with photos from the past. This is from a stash under my bed that I have been too lazy to part with . The purpose of this photo escapes me, but it's from the era of film where everything on the roll was processed. The corner garden is mine, but that's the neighbor's car.

I scratched and sanded the photo then hand colored it. The stamp is one of my treasures--a rotating multiple message stamp reminding customers that their payment is LONG PAST DUE and Thank You!

ATC-France

Another ATC using vintage illustrations and part of an original antique french letter from a Paris hotel. Red wax is dribbled on and embossed french script runs along the top edge.

ATC-Paris

This ATC uses an overlay technique to float the image of the Eiffel Tower on the background. The magazine illustration was coated with artists gloss medium then soaked and the paper removed.

The letter section with postal stamp is vintage ephemera from my collection. French script is embossed along the edge.

ATC-Queens Village

This ATC showcases a few of my obsessions: art fibers, vintage ephemera, beeswax and old rubber stamps. The Queens Village stamp used here is from an old train station collection, used for stamping passenger tickets. The lower left corner is embossed beeswax.

ATC-Fatal Errors

ATC with feather bound to card in wire, made as a PIF for another artist.

ATC-Espresso

ATC for a Coffee & Tea swap.
