The egg falls near the tree



So I was reading this book and the artist said to find your "symbol" and mentioned spirals and stars and shapes of all kinds...and it occured to me that I already seem to have a symbol which keeps recurring in my artwork. Ever since I started making ukrainian eggs (pysanky) I've collected egg shaped objects. What can I say? They just appeal to me. I was very pleased at how these came out, as it was all part of my first foray into the world of fluid acrylics. More tricks to come!!!

New fun with texture





These are my first attempts with textured fluid acrylics on illustration board. The background of the flower is made by crinkling up plastic wrap on the wet acrylics and letting them dry that way. the other two have tissue and foil components, as well as sand and gel medium. I'm trying to understand how to let the organic nature of the creation speak to me, but I think I am hard of hearing!

Finally--something of interest!


I have to say that this is the most satisfying work I've done in forever. I wanted to play with texture and also my new golden fluid acrylics finally came. I stumbled upon a book titled Celebrate Your Creative Self and it's got my interest. There are some combined techniques here, starting with getting my husband to cut some masonite panels into atc-sized bits. I needed something heavier as I wanted to work with encaustics and they can't be allowed to bend much. "For I have had too much" is encaustic wax scribed and painted with acrylics. The others are a combination of textured gessos, fluid acrylics and stuff. You know, stuff!

Continuing with a Theme


I was thinking about calling it an "extended creative period upon a single theme" rather than being in a rut!

Off to Cloth Paper Scissors






Since we'll be going to the International Quilt Show in April, Heather and I decided to enter some ATC's into the Cloth Paper Scissors trade. They'll be displaying all of the cards they recieve at the show and trading will occur at different times of day. After agonizing for weeks, I decided to go with a single theme.

Matchbox with Mini ATC--Crows!


This is an altered matchbox, topped with a vintage brass tag and wrapped with rusty wire. Inside is an alphabet game card and a mini atc of a crow splattered with walnut ink and dipped in beeswax.

ATC Albums




I was inspired by Nici and others who make small albums for atc's. I was in the collectibles shop in town looking for some masking fluid when I saw the trading card area and snagged some great holders for atc's and etc.

The ephemeral isles have just published this latest artistamp under their affiliate authority. It's unmarked, with no apparent postal issue. Very mysterious.

Love Chunky Project


This is my entry for the valentines chunky book hosted by the fab Renmeleon, the renaissance chameleon! This is a pocket book and I've done 4 atc-like valentines and a tag with a metal heart and a pocket full of "love cents" artistamps.

Can't draw cats


I tried to draw a cat but it wasn't in the cards. Bill says I don't have a cat in my soul. Apparently what I have is a lot of birds.

Altered Art Pillow!

Pen and Ink
