Whimsical Chair!

I found this adorable little plain brown chair at a garage sale and it needed painting. Here's my whimsical chair version, with winged hearts and dangling iridescent beads.

Cityscape Mini Quilt

I made this appliqued and stitched mini framed quilt for my sister's birthday coming up. It was a lot of fun and so easy I want to make more of this type of project!

Final Trip Pictures

The smoked fish will be done at 3pm. Unfortunately, we will be gone by then! Some dewey grass in the evening, the water at Fishtown, shadow of a fern on the boardwalk at Tahquamenon and some rusty nails marching up a dilapidated barn roof.

And more Photos from our trip...

A piece of driftwood on Lake Superior, the mighty Tahquamenon, a rusty can in the tall grass at an abandoned Dude Ranch, Chelsea in the blazing sunset and the glorious Lake Superior beach stones.

More Pictures from the U.P.

Here is Miner's Castle on the Lake Superior Shore at Pictured Rocks, an old house next to our bed and breakfast, a long road to nowhere, my daughter's pouty lips and finally a dial on an antique abandoned stove.

Pictures from the Upper Peninsula of Michigan

Here are some photos of our recent trip. Kilns at Fayette, Kitch-iti-Kipi Spring, A cool old tumbledown house, the ruined docks at Fayette and a pic from inside one of the kilns.

More Recycled CD Pins

Again, these are made by cutting up useless compact discs, then sanding them and painting, stamping, collaging and coating them with either UTEE or Diamond Glaze.

Ok it's late...

I'm weak and can't resist. This is my other cherished beauty Chelsea. She's 15 with straight A's in botany and biology and I give her an A+ for fashion.

Egg Art Quilt

Heather and I got to meet Lesley Riley at the Quilt Show and she was so gracious and lovely to talk to. I bought several groupings of her "fragment fabric bundles" and here's how I put one of them to use. This is a hanging art quilt which also uses several of my favorite vintage buttons and an old rhinestone heart shaped buckle. She has an amazing way of putting colors together.

Encaustic Assemblage

I've been having fun with wax again! The first image is my favorite--it's done on a child's chalkboard with some vintage fun stuff. The bird is cut out from an old baking soda card--a premium they used to put in boxes of soda. My vintage button collection is put to good use again, along with an old vial and some brass crosses. The other egg shrine has a tabulator key from an old typewriter, antique pen nibs, danglies including electrical circuit parts and I used a "half fare" stamp that was formerly used on the railroad.

While I'm at it...

Here's ultimately one of my *best* creations--ultra cool daughter Cady Joy. She's all of 13 and punk'd out.

Checking In...

Thought I'd check in with a photo of myself with my new RAD nose ring. I've finally gotten used to it!

Vintage Jar Faeries

It was hard to photograph these "jar faeries"...because the glass of the jars is sort of thick and wavy. I started with printed images of little vintage girls, added wings, words and jewels plus a little glitter...stood them up on little card stands in the bottom of the maraschino cherry jars...added a background embellished with old letters and stamps...added some fluff and angelina in the bottom and glued vintage pearl buttons around the lid.
