Why I Love Michigan

The gorgeous fall days! We drove up to Ludington for lunch and found this artsy little shop called Maude's Garage. Totally funky. Here's what the leaves are doing to beautify the world. The reflection on the top pic is of the dashboard on my husband's 50th birthday present--a Bullitt edition 2008 Mustang. It's the ultimate cruising machine.

To My Embarrassment but Karma Intervenes

Okay--I've decided to show you WHY I had to give some stuff away. I was drowning in disorder. To my own defense, the book has really been consuming a lot of time and I didn't put anything away for month. I had some nice small padded envelopes passed on to me from work, where they just throw them away. I started stuffing them and realized I was going to get nowhere. So daughter and I went to the local office store to get *larger* envelopes (10"). As we were entering, a couple turned and handed us a gift card for $10. They said "we couldn't find anything we wanted and this expires today." How awesome was that? I'll be sending them out in batches soon!

Celebrate the Self Portrait

Firstly, check out this great book--Mixed Media Self Portraits--by Cate Prato of Quilting Arts/Cloth Paper Scissors. I have a number of little art projects in it and it's a beautiful and inspiring book. Cate did a great job! It's now available on the QA site or from your favorite vendor.

Secondly, to celebrate all of the fun book projects I've been involved in, including my own, I want to give you my art stuff. My studio looks like it was hit by a tornado. I've isolated the excess art supplies and I'm going to be divvying them up. Some are on ebay (more listings soon), but I've got LOTS of paper/ephemera/bits/odds and ends and artwork that I need to send out into the world. I've got a lot of small padded envelopes and I'm going to start stuffing them with goodies. IF you want a grab bag of artsy goodness, simply send me your snail addy and I will make something magically appear in your mailbox. These are all *treasures* to me and I hope they will brighten someone else's day. HAPPY ART PACKETS ARE NOW GONE.

Thanks to everyone who responded and will make a home for my extras! I am sending out 20 envelopes. If I find that I have more left I will repost, but for now this will keep me busy :)
