Melanie Testa and Pretty Purses
Thus begins a host of posts about my International Quilt Festival Chicago adventures...mostly in terms of big thank you's to all of the artists I met, traded with and shared smiles with. More to come, but I'll start with the results of my class with Melanie Testa. Here are some of the delicious layered fabrics I made under her direction. They are directly from her book Inspired to Quilt, which I had her sign. The fabrics are fused and ready for quilting with a layer of batting underneath. The top layer is stenciled silk organza that we made in class. The pretty purse speaks for itself. This class was a pure joy and Melanie's knowledge comes shining through. I would not hesitate to take another class (check your August schedule, hint hint) from this amazing woman.

Gorgeous background quilted fabric! Wow!
ReplyDeleteYour purse is fantastic and I love the fabrics. My dream is to take a class with Melly. I had a blast in her Joggles class this winter and can only imagine how much fun it would be to create with her in person. Thanks for sharing!

ReplyDeletegoodness! it's art, isn't it?
ReplyDeleteBeautiful work, Kelli. I like the final touch of the hand-embroidery stitches. The other fabrics are very pretty too. Hopefully I will get my purse finished soon,

Wow. That is really stunning. I would be afraid to use it for fear of wearing it out or messing it up!
