Convendipity Cloth
This is the first part of a project I call convendipity (my daughter's melange). I used the basic "convergence" style of cutting fabric into strips, merging it with another fabric and then cutting them the opposite direction. With this as a base, I went on to apply serendipity paper methods to create a fun fabric I can cut up for fabric postcards, ATC's, cloth books etc. Some shapes are cut and applied with fusible web and there is also stamping with ink, paint and use of Shiva paintsticks over a pebbled surface. Fibers were hand-couched and the whole thing was free-motion quilted. The projects I create with this fabric will be posted soon!

It's gorgeous! I wish I could see you do this technique so I can get it into my head. Is it weaving?
ReplyDeleteNot weaving, no. I started with techniques from Ricky Tims' Convergence Quilts. I want to work through all the types of convergence in the book. Then I did a smattering of fused applique before the mania hit and I added every technique but the kitchen sink, lol!
ReplyDeleteWell, I'm as happy as a clam because I received my art journal home today! And your tutorial in it is wonderful!!! I think we must be in the same psychic friend network. :)
ReplyDeleteThis is just beautiful! Your tutorial is perfect and so inspiring!
