I've been working with the Stitch Alchemy book study group on Mixed Media Art Friends and we're working on week 2,3,4, which is coloring our original paper/cloth or stitchpaper with inks, paints, stains and glazes. I've been so impressed with all the creativity and beautiful work everyone is doing. Here are my sheets of colored stitchpaper, ready for the next stage.
I am not a member of the study group, but am certainly enjoying your book....I am wanting to make a "kite skin" out of paper cloth, so need a glue that is more water resistant than Aleene's Tacky...any ideas you would be willing to share?
ReplyDeleteThe resulting piece still needs to be flexible and able to be rolled without cracking the fabric...I've considered Aleene's "OK to Wash it", and Traci Bautists'a "Collage Pauge"...
Your stitch papers are delicious! I'm having a blast in the study, can't get enough time to spend doing it, but then that's always the case.
ReplyDeleteHi Cindy. A kite sound great! I don't have a perfect solution--some experimenting is likely in order. I'd be thinking about something you can apply to the outside to seal it. Gloss medium might work and still be flexible. I'd haunt the craft store glue aisle reading labels. Hope we get to see your kit! Kelli

ReplyDeleteMod Podge is supposed to be permanant after dry. It cleans up with water but after it is dry cannot be removed, it says on the bottle. Drys clear. Maybe this would be a product that could be used on a kite skin.
Thanks for all the thoughts...I see some experimenting in my near future....I always forget about gel/gloss mediums- even with them staring at me from the shelf!...will keep you all posted---now off to play!
