Can You Like Art Too Much?

Always wondering and pondering my own instincts. Why do I love the things I make so much? Why is it so hard to part with them? Can paper beads make me happy? For a little while at least. I know that because my heart soars when I look at these. Is creativity really just the process of soothing our own souls? If so, I approve. We all need a little visual joy to lighten our hearts.

  4. Your art ALWAYS brings visual JOY to me, too! But I understand completely--I have felt the urge to create all my life but really only began to explore over the past couple of years and wish with all my heart I could "quit my day job" as the saying goes. I look forward to more postings of your creations =)

  6. Quite a few of these remind me of test tubes or vintage glass bottles with decorative caps. I love them! I'm thinking about making some paper beads and using them to make stitch markers for my knitting.

Hi, I've only recently come across your blog, but have gone into your archives to feast my eyes on your many beautiful creations. Thank you for sharing your creative energies. These beads are lovely and I'm inspired to try my hand at some. Can you please offer a tutorial? The other area I would really like to learn from you is color sense. Any chance of a tutorial, or video, or even a book? Thanks again for brightening my day. Ambal

  9. Thanks all. A bead tutorial is an excellent idea--I'll put it on the agenda! I wrote an article on them for Cloth Paper Scissors in Jul/Aug 2007 and they are covered briefly in my book Stitch Alchemy. Cheers! Kelli

Thank you. I look forward to seeing the tute! Hope it includes how you added the silver charm at the tip. Now, about that color thing...please consider at least passing along some insight on what makes you put the colors together the way you do. When I get wild with colors, I just get a big mess! I also see that others frequently mention the beautiful colors in your works so I know tutes, posts, and articles would be very welcome! Thanks, Ambal
