Tempest of Roses in a Teacup Tutorial

Making a tempest (of roses) in a fancy teacup.
. Find a teacup and matching saucer. Find a styrofoam ball that fits nicely into the cup.
Use hot glue to adhere the styrofoam ball in the cup. If the ball falls too deeply into the cup,
add some wadded up paper in the bottom to support it. The ball should be about half in and half out.
Choose some felt (either wool or synthetic) for your roses.
Cut circles. Mine are about 2" in diameter.
Start with a dozen and then see if you need to make more.
Cut each circle into a spiral shape as shown.

Using dabs of hot glue or fabric glue, begin rolling the roses and securing them with glue.
Start at the middle and end on the outside.

When the rose is rolled and ready, add a pearl-head pin through the center.
Squeeze some hot glue onto the styrofoam and begin inserting the roses,
snuggling them up against one another.

Step 4. Find an old book you can cut up. Rip out two pages and place them together,
with some nice text on either side facing out.
With a free motion foot and green thread, stitch some leaf shapes in the paper.

Coat the leaves with gloss medium.

Sprinkle with irridescnt glitter, allow to dry and repeat on the other side.

Cut out the leaves, allowig a little bit outside the stitching as a border.

Make 3-5 leaves for each teacup bouquet.

Add an edging with a gold leaf pen.
Push the leaves in between the roses and secure with glue.

Apply some hot glue to the bottom of the cup and gently place it on the saucer to secure.

Give a cup of cheerful comfort to a friend or delight in lovely blooms all year round.
